Milco Wire EDM

Milco Wire EDM is a machine shop specializing in electrical discharge machining (EDM) services, including wire EDM, die sinker EDM, and EDM small hole drilling. Electrical discharge machining is favored by advanced industries requiring the use of exotic alloys that resist conventional machining. EDM works where conventional machining does not due to a complete lack of tool pressure—instead of eroding material through direct contact, EDM erodes material through repeated sparking. EDM is also a very accurate process, with an ability to hold tight tolerances and leave a smooth surface finish.

In addition, Milco Wire EDM complements its EDM services with water jet cutting and conventional CNC milling. For many jobs, there is not an exclusive need for EDM, and machine shops that can leverage faster machining methods can deliver parts to customers more quickly, and at less expense.

Wire EDM

Wire EDM uses a thin wire electrode on a spool to slice into a work piece.

Wire diameters of: .004", .006", .008", .010", and .012".
Wide/large table travel up to 13.7" x 19.68".
Cutting head Z axis heights up to 11.8".
Ability to cut at a 45° taper.
All machines have independent, 4-axis movement.

Sinker EDM

Sinker, also called plunge, ram, and die sinker EDM works by slowly sinking a custom-made electrode into a workpiece, leaving an impression of the electrode.

Small Hole EDM

Small hole EDM drilling, or hole-popping, uses a tubular electrode to drill a hole into a workpiece. Small hole EDM often complements wire EDM by drilling a start hole.

Water Jet Machining

Water jet cutting uses a high pressure water jet and abrasive agents to cut through materials. A versatile machining method that complements EDM.

Works with common materials: composites, acrylics, ceramics, metals, foams, rubbers, honeycombs, glass to fiberglass, granite, cement, marble, tile and wood.
